I don’t want more gadgets!

It’s too hard to use!

These are some of the reactions when “Smart Home” or Automation is mentioned.

But an Integrated Home or Smart Home is not complicated when designed with how you live in mind. The goal of connecting multiple devices is to simplify and streamline routine tasks in your home resulting in convenience, ease of use and safety.

Today

Automated… not complicated

When you get home …

Use garage door opener to open garage, park, turn on stair light, turn on hall light, turn on multiple kitchen lights. Turn on the outside light. Shut stair light. Shut hall light. (or do you end up leaving them all on??) Kick thermostat up. Shut the drapes. Go to the stereo in the great room and turn on the kitchen music (if you can remember all the right buttons to make that happen).

Isn’t this easy?

Use garage door opener to open garage AND light the stairs, hall and kitchen. No tripping on the skateboard.

Press one button in kitchen to shut hall, stairs, adjust kitchen for working and turn on lamps in the attached great room.

The thermostat was already turned up.

The outside lights came on at dusk.

The shades shut at dusk.

Dock your iPod and press a button to turn on the kitchen music. Or for fun, have it come on when you enter the room!

When it’s time to watch a movie …

Turn on the receiver, DVD, TV. Shut the shades. Find and load the DVD. Set the correct inputs on the receiver. Get up because you forgot to dim the lights.

Oops, sound but no pictures … forgot to set the TV input. Get up again because you forgot to dim the kitchen lights.

More relaxing?

Why not, choose a movie from the movie server, press a button on the remote and have the system come on, inputs set, shades come down, and lights dim.

When you retire for the evening …

Do you trudge around the house shutting lights, locking doors, setting back thermostats, turning off TVs and electronics, turning on night lights?

Convenient and efficient!

Press the Night button to shut off the lights downstairs, light a pathway upstairs, arm the security system, setback the thermostat, and turn off the music. Upstairs, press good night by your bed to turn off any remaining lights. Hear a noise at night, press the All ON button.
